Welcome from Philo,OH! My first wife sounds a lot like your current... I kept my FJ.

Unlike the FJ they make new wives everyday.

ditto. except for the Ohio thing. I got mine with 188k on the clock and it's been FLAWLESS. It's my daily and still the only thing that rattles is me and my stuff. No leaks, no burning. My ex wife didn't want to get one when they were new so I sat on the sidelines for 14 years. Then she left, I got a Harley, a few guns (I am a Texan after all) and finally got my Cruiser.

In my opinion, "high mileage" is retaliative. 200k on a mid 1980's american made car is high mileage, as in "we get to rebuild everything from the block to the U joints" kind of mileage. but in a toyota of recent years, it's just getting broken in.

The FJs that I could afford are all 2007 - 2008 but the miles are high. The FJ with the lower miles are typically 2013 and 14 which mean Iím paying 28,000 to 31,000! Aghhhhh!
What's your price range? The 2010's with ~100K can be had in the high 10's / low 20's now. If you need help finding one:

I wrote that ^^^. Would be happy to help, I don't charge anything.

Re: Still hoping

Like @TexasFJ said, "high mileage" is relative, and fear of higher mileage vehicles really boils down to a fear of wear—wear on the parts that matter most, those being parts of the drivetrain, the braking system, and for those more visual among us, the exterior and interior condition.

So now you know what you need to do. You need to find an FJ that defies each of those concerns but still meets your price-point. If you can manage that, you may be able to circumvent your wife's objections—that is, assuming she's a reasonable, logical person. In other words, a unicorn.

I factory ordered my lotus Elise love it. I bought my 2004 NSX, new when no one wanted them. Now they are desired on BAT

Made a mistake not buying 13/14 TT FJ new. 11 months of search, found my perfect 12 TT. Very happy with

Be patient, find it. Buy it. Tell wife after.

If they targa the new NSX, are you getting one? I'm considering rolling my '00 Monaco Blue up into one in a few years, but they have to targa it first (no point as a coupe). My '15 GS350 is blue/saddle and I'm just loving the color combo.

I do reflexively dislike selling an appreciating asset to by a depreciating one...but 573 horsepower...

I know what you mean about the sports cars with no roofs. They are hard to beat! The wind in your hair, the rev of the engine, feeling every little nuance of the road....

I found one! well, not a wife but a woman who is a car chick! The first thing she said to me was 'it needs a lift and bigger tires'. But she's a die hard Jeeper in spite of the gauge issue, using it off road issue (have to get Jeep to reprogram it to use off road???) and the leaking issues.

My ex used: mileage, taking it off road and breaking things and we live in the city arguments.

You got life insurance on the wife? Problem solved.
