Hello. New Owner. Love it so far.

Hello,

Took possession of a 2011 NSSE FJ this weekend. Before I did research I assumed it was the TT edition. Had 2007 RAV4 that we loved and was a great, solid, work car. A very large tree fell on it and totaled it. Have always liked the FJ's and decided to jump in. Took about 2 months, but think I got a good one. Now the facts...
Has 104,000+ miles on it. Was a one owner private sale. She kept a binder of the original sale and all corresponding maint/work that was done. Cleanest and shortest CARFAX I have ever seen.
Had the upgrade package #3 . Roof rack, front lights, bluetooth, etc. all there. No power outlet, bilstein shocks, TRD wheels, rock rails, or 3 inst cluster on dash.
Had the Ziebart undercoat and Diamond Gloss treatments done.
It was meticulously kept. I am not sure anyone had ever ridden in the back seat before we drove it away. My kids got it dirtier on the 5 hr ride home than I think it had ever been.

I know it is the NSSE and not the TT edition. Going to have my mechanic look it over either late this week or early next after I get title fully transferred and get temp plates. Are there other things I should look for as far as common problems/things that need to be addressed?

How many of the NSSE's are there? I cannot find that data anywhere. Thanks for the help and can't wait to enjoy driving it.

If I remember right it was roughly the first third of the production run, maybe ~700 trucks? I too owned a NSSE when they first came out, as I was moving to Colorado for offroading and looking to buy an all-green FJ. On a Monday in early March, hearing there were only NSSE's, I passed on buying one. The earthquake / tsunami happened that Friday, so I grabbed the first one I found being unsure if we'd ever see a real '11 TT. I think the real TT's actually got here around June of that year.

The only useful / difficult to add things you're missing are the rear power inverter and the gauge cluster / compass. Not impossible, but I found the gauge cluster to obstruct my field of view in some driving.

As for "common problems", the only one on the '10+ trucks is making sure the drive shaft stays greased. Lack of regular maintenance will give you a small bump feeling in the back when coming to a stop. Beyond that, just confirm the maintenance -- front/rear diff and transfer case fluid mainly, and the transmission fluid if it isn't shifting smoothly -- and you're good.

Re: Hello. New Owner. Love it so far.

Welcome to the Nsse club. This is a just a good a platform as the TT since you will probably end up swapping out the suspension to something better anyway, and the wheels if you want them can be picked up easily. Theres a complete set on of oem TRD wheels with tires on ebay right now for 700 buy it now. I usually see them on craigslist in my area once in a while. I picked up one of the dash clusters to install on mine and actually opted out because it obstructed the view anyway. Oh and oem rock rail are everywhere for sale. Good luck.
