How to run only parking lights and mirror lights

Could not post to the how to part of the forum, so figured i would post it here.

Is it possible to run only your parking lights and your mirror lights as the same time without the DRL on? I dont think you can do it without some modifications but was wondering if i am missing something.

There is a grey connector behind the drivers side headlight , when unplugged the DRL's wont come on .

Re: How to run only parking lights and mirror lights

You don't need to modify anything.

To turn off the daytime running lights (headlights):
1. Turn off lights.
2. Turn off engine.
3. Lift parking brake handle to the first click.
4. Restart engine.
5. Turn on parking lights but not headlights.

Now the headlights will stay off until you lower the parking brake handle and then the daytime running lights will come back on.

Of course parking lights are for parking; not for driving.

Re: How to run only parking lights and mirror lights

just FYI: it is not always enforced all that well, but an alert officer can pull you over for driving at night with only the parking lights on (headlights required while driving, in the dark)

If during the day, or off road, its fine, just wanted to point it out just in case it wasn't already understood.

Re: How to run only parking lights and mirror lights

I (along with a whole lot of others) just disabled the DRL's by disconnecting the grey resistor plug behind the left headlight.

I turn my headlights on at night, and I run my parking lights when it's overcast or early/late in the day with otherwise good visibility.

I don't personally like auto DRL on my vehicles and I don't want to tap dance with my ignition/parking brake...
