Oreilly is a lot closer to me compared to my local Toyota dealer, I checked online and found they have a couple of choices for the air filter replacement, FRAM, Wix and Microguard, and they're priced at around $21, I don't really use stock replacements for air filters in any of my cars, but considering none of them eat dirt like the FJ does , is it worth it in this instance to get a factory replacement ?, or the aftermarket offers plenty of insurance for what we need ? and if so, which one would offer the best filtering ?
I have used OEM for the last 30plus years. It is easy to order on-line and keep a small inventory on hand. There is a reason Wallyworld sells stuff so cheap. You get what you pay for.
Ended up going OEM, haven't used an oiled filter since 2009, for performance I use AFE Dry filters, for offroad, I prefer the good ol paper filter, and the stock Denso is pretty beefy.
Thanks a lot guys.
any auto parts store air filter will do it`s job, Fram, Hastings, Purolator, Napa, etc etc...
I`ve used a few, but prefer OEM when I can, and I ordered an OEM from sparks a little while ago to have on hand.
The best filter I have found is made by Baldwin, then the stock Toyota filter. Stay away from K&N, they just let dirt in. No filter is going to make more hp. I normally give long detailed responses, but read this and you will never stray from quality OEM filter again.
I have more tests if anyone wants then, or just google the filter and then ISO 5011 test.
