My Foobar

As everyone knows, an FJ is always a work in progress, so I thought I start my buildup thread and add things as I went along.

Some History. I've loved the FJ since I saw my first '07. I remember seeing it and wondering what the heck it was. I did some research and started planning to get one. At the time, I had an Acura which was alot of fun and was paid for, so buying one right off was just not in the cards. So after three years, I finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase a 2010 black 5AT with the offroad package. The dealer ordered it for someone but they never came and got it. So it just happened to be on the lot.

Modding the machine: The very first mod was adding a second horn to the FJ. I know it sound silly but it was the first mod thread I read on here and was so anxious to do something to it, I just did it. After that was adding a Midland CB setup with a Firestik 4' antenna. Next was adding a flexible map reading light and GPS to the dash.

I then started looking at storage systems for the rear door. Decided to build my own system based off some input from here. I use to work at a bicycle shop and decided I could easily make a system for mounting cycling panniers to the back door. It was easy to do and worked perfectly. I need to take a pic of the system and add it to the thread.

I have cut out the original muffler and added a Magnaflow 5X8X30 with a custom high tuck pipe. I really like the sound and the perfomance is rather nice. Seems it really smooths out the low end power.

After going round and round, I finally pulled the trigger on a Toytec lift. I went with the 3" adjustable coilovers for my Bilsteins, with TT Superflex rear coils and OME Sport rear shocks. I also installed the Light Racing UCA's and followed some tips here with the alignment to get no rub. I was able to land some nice Procomp Alloy wheels with Interco 34X10.5X16 TSL's off craigslist.

Here are some pics I took of the rig outside at work after the lift was installed and before the blackout.

Re: At least it's a start...Foobar

Thanks for the nice comments. And those tires are nasty loud!! I\'m going to D2D with my stock rugged trails and use these in the mud with I go offroad.

As for the images, I uploaded the images to a local forum that I run where I have admin rights to upload high res files. Then I just use the image link from that forum when posting. The pics are from my phone which will actually take a 5mp image.

Re: At least it's a start...Foobar

Took a few pics this morning of my rear door storage system and my Demolo Light Sliders.

Here are a few pics of the light I mounted in the cab for a map light and my Midland mount. There is something so special about Velcro.

Re: At least it's a start...Foobar

This weekend my son and I did some cosmetic work on the FJ. After tearing off one of the back side bumper pieces, we decided to paint all of them black. We did the rear bumper first, then today did the front grill, bumper and door handles.

We still have the side mirrors to do. My son wants to paint them to match the grill. I'm still up in the air about it. Any comments?

I'm having trouble envisioning the handles and mirrors red/maroon, maybe someone can do a photoshop for you? Those tires are sick! I can see why you want some sound proofing when they are on there.

Re: At least it's a start...Foobar

I think they would look great in white. youve probly seen others do it, I just like the way it matches the roof

Also your truck looks sick, and in your signature it says you have OME long travel rear shocks? How much more travel does it give?? could you send me the link to where you bought them :P
