I finally got around to naming my 2013 FJ. First thought was "Money Pit" but I have been having too much fun accessorizing this guy. So I started to think about my wife and my second daughter that is about to be upon us. We will be very close in birthdays, like a week apart. She told me that I have one birthday left so I better get everything that I want because once my daughter is here it's all about her. Agreed. At that time "El Jefe" was born.
Here is how I found "El Jefe" and how he looks now.
I wanted to pay homage to all of those FJ 40's that I have seen with diamond plate rocker panels and I think I nailed it. Thanks to Warrior Products for making a Special Oder for just the door plates.
Added a diamond plate air dam to replace the BajaRack dam. Matches my rocker panels now and altogether a better look. Also installed my 8500lb winch finally. I was too lazy to pull off the bumper only to find out that the only access I would have to the bolts would be to cut out the Road Armor logo in the bottom of the bumper. Problem solved. I've never been a fan of free advertisements anyway. I'm thinking about going with The Punisher logo cut out of steel and welded into the opening.
It has taken me over a month to post this but my FJ has been in a severe accident and the insurance company has determined it to be a total loss. I can't thank the Road Armour Titan Grill for saving me and my daughters life. We both made it out with mere bruises from the seat belts but the other vehicle didn't make it out as lucky.
All I can say is that my FJ was by far my favorite vehicle that I have ever owned and I will genuinely miss it. For all of the FJ owners I leave this bit of refreshing news. In 2013 I purchased my FJ new for $34,500. The insurance company paid out $36,200 for my FJ. Part of me wished that they were going to fix it but the angle of impact combined with the bumper directly attached to the frame caused such a misalignment that it was deemed a total loss.
Thank you FJ for everything because even in your demise you still paid off and allowed for me to purchase my dream 4x4 SUV.
Glad to see that the FJ did it’s most important duty and kept you both safe. Congrats on the new RR but it’s always sad to see one of these heading to the junkyard.
