Hopefully this attachment doesn't upload sideways. Well, it uploaded sideways so I don't know how to fix that but you get the picture...

Re: 2014 FJ "MOOSE" Overland Buildup

So, it's been a while since I have updated you guys. I moved to southern Utah (as shown in another thread) and love it here! I will update with the pic of me looking for property with my new BF Goodrich KO2's (285/70/17) and the TRD matte black rims (17") I just had installed. I have not gotten around to the power inverter in the back still, my front grill guard lights are not wired up yet, and I need a lift kit now that I am in Utah. The KO2's slightly rub against the wheel well plastic. They were hitting the UCA's with factory rims but offset on the TRD has them pushed out away from them now.

Re: 2014 FJ Overland Buildup

Build UPDATE! Though it is a small build and this is now officially a slow build, I had my Hella 500's installed a couple months back on the grill guard as seen in above photo. Now that they are functional, it provides a lot of light at night off-road or through the mountains. Yesterday I wired up a USB port for passengers riding in the back. The lack of USB ports for a car made in 2014 is pretty crazy but now I am slowly going to add a few more over time. This one is made by BlueSea and I picked it because of the cover that it comes with. Since I knew it would be mounted lower to the floor behind the console, I wanted it protected.

Re: 2014 FJ "MOOSE" Overland Buildup

Part of an overland rig build should always be recovery gear and that is something I have ignored until today. Although it is a small investment, I put together a tire repair kit with two items from Harbor Freight. The tire repair kit itself was $4.96 and the waterproof Pelican style case made by Apache was on sale for $14.98. I used a 20% coupon and got it all for under $18! So now I am able to repair a flat and get back to safety without having to put myself into a bad situation with using a hi lift jack on the trail to change a tire.

Re: 2014 FJ "MOOSE" Overland Buildup

This build is about to get interesting...ha! I finally decided it is time to protect the under carriage now that I actually live in Utah and not Oklahoma. Round 1. RCI Metalworks aluminum front engine skid. I went with aluminum because of the 20lb weight and I don't want to deal with rust. I won't be hardcore rock crawling so I feel like this will be enough protection for me. I am going to install it later this week, maybe today. Pics to follow.

Re: 2014 FJ "MOOSE" Overland Buildup

This was a super easy install. Hardest part was lining up the bolt hole just to start the first bolt if that tells you anything. Anyways, RCI Metalworks skid is installed and that extra protection I wanted is now up and running.

2014 FJ "MOOSE" Overland Buildup

Yesterday I received my lower control arm skids from RCI Metalworks (bare aluminum). 30 minutes later, they were installed! Lift kit coming soon!
