Re: 2014 FJ Overland Buildup

The Tigermoth had a Tepui awning on it. I wanted an awning with a good awning room so I removed the Tepui and put it on the FJ. Bought and ARB deluxe awning room for a 6' ARB awning. Swap completed!

Re: 2014 FJ Overland Buildup

Finally got around to installing my solar panel. I ended up going with a Renogy Eclipse 100W Monocrystalline Panel, the Renogy Voyager waterproof controller ( I can expand another 100 watts if I want to), and I had to buy an MC4 to SAE adaptor since my camper was prewired for Zamp brand solar, this just converted it nicely for me. Also picked up a few 10 gauge 10' wires from Amazon while I was at it and the Renogy Z brackets. I mounted the panel directly through my Thule load bars. I was going to drill into the roof of a camper. Seems like a good way to start having leaking issues. Results below! @Loganbeere

Thanks man! I used some Command brand clips to secure the wiring to the exterior of the camper. We'll see how long they last but I am pretty confident in them. I am happy how it turned out. Since mine was pre-wired, it runs into the main fuse box so the positive to the battery was already fused. They had a 30 amp fuse on their diagram from the positive of the panel to the positive of the control but I am not sure it is necessary. That diagram they showed didn't have a fuse after the controller so it's a bit different than mine. I guess we'll see if it burns down. Ha! I am pulling 14.4 volts from the sun at the height of the day. More than my home outlet!

Re: 2014 FJ Overland Buildup

I found an Eezi Awn RTT for $750 a few weeks back. Add it to the build.

Re: 2014 FJ Overland Buildup

Pulled the trigger on an Eezi Awn K9 Rack with Paul at Equipt Expedition Outfitters. Free install so I am taking it to the shop on Monday. We have measured and are going to fit it with the 87x49 platform that fits the 5th Gen. 4Runner. Supposedly we will have a 1/2" on each side for it to fit. If it works, it will be the first FJ that we know of that has the 87x49" platform Trust me when I say, pictures will follow because I, along with many others, know that not many pictures of the K9 rack exist with it installed on an FJ. I will take a bunch with it installed clean and then with gear on it.
