Replacing the fuel pump
I just completed this task yesterday and Iíd like to pass on a couple of pointers. If your like most of us, you donít have a lift in your garage. You have to jack it up high enough to get the large HF jack stands under the rear axle pretty extended. Because once you have the tank on the floor, you have to slide it out from under the frame. So, unless your plan is to replace the whole pump / sump / fuel gauge sender assembly ( expensive ) here is my important tip about disassembling the unit to replace just the pump. Where the pressurized gas is coming out of the top of the pump there is a O-RING! If you buy a OEM pump it probably wonít come with this o-ring. I ended up re-using the old one which worked fine. Slip the o-ring onto the plastic post in the sump before pushing the pump in the housing. I rest my rant.
