Which lights to get?

I just got my 2012 FJ and it needs some fog lights or something else to brighten up the road. Where is the best place to mount lights on stock bumper? place the switch? Any suggestions would be great.

Congrats! I have a set of Rigid Industries, Dually D-2's, amber light on my FJ. The amber is great for fog, heavy rain and dust. I also have a set of 4" round HID, white light (6000K) lights that I mounted. They are great lights and very bright. I just received, but have not installed yet, a set of Rigid Industries, Dually's, white light that will be going next to my ambers in the lower grill area. The Rigid lights are expensive, but the best on the market in my opinion. If your interested in some Rigid lights, I'd recommend getting them from Joe (forum name is CHITOWNFJ), he's a forum member, very knowledgable and has the best prices on lights that I've found. If your interested, PM me and I'll give you Joe's email or cell phone number. Hope this helps. Good luck.

This is with my 4300K HID head lights on and my 4" HID lights. Wish I had a better picture.

I forgot to mention, I'm running a set of Rigid Industries diffused Dually's, white lights on the rear of my roof rack as back up lights, recovery lights. It's a very useful tool. Now I can see stuff that I'm hitting when I back up! I have all my aux. lights running into my sPOD and controlled through my switch box mounted in the cabin. Just to give you an idea, I have around $1,200-$1,300 invested in lights and my sPOD. Later down the road I'd like to get a 40" Rigid light bar for the roof.

Re: Which lights to get?

As you can see there are a LOT of options. The easiest of which would be lights on top of the bumper in the stock locations (there are tabs under the plastic they install on)... then you'd get a stock switch for the dash switch area.

some info:

Being fog lights, if wired OEM then they will only come on with your brights. Most lights are too high or too big to use all the time.

These are the OEM spots:

Of you crawl under the bumper you'll see two holes, i used a pointy object to mark them to make it easier to drill from the other side. For the switch i used this

And mounted then by the driver vent. One for the bumper lights and the other for the roof lights, you can't go any more stock than this, unless you fork the money for OME switches.

I thought I read that the 2012s and later don't have the brackets in the bumper anymore to easily mount lights on a stock bumper...

When I took my bumper plastics off to do my instal, I say holes on the top side of the metal bumper which I'm guessing that's what those could be used for.
