Re: Off Road Paint protection and scrath repair

Yeah, I got a little too aggressive and got some pretty nasty scratches down both sides of my FJ.
I just saw on YouTube last night that people are using Plasti Dip to coat their cars with.
Here is a video of a guy removing the Plasti Dip from his FJ

I am fairly excited about the concept because you can buy a can of this stuff for under 10 bucks at Lowes or whatever, and when you are done, just peel it off.

Whats the problem with scratches??

I like them- except when they damage a nice vintage skateboard sticker

Re: Off Road Paint protection and scrath repair

I did an opti-coat two weeks ago. Well, I had someone do it. I got my first ding in a parking lot (thank you moron) and only have a dent - no paint off.

Likely not helpful in off-road though...

Re: Off Road Paint protection and scrath repair

we just bought a Sandstorm her in the Desert of Las Vegas, the dust blends in really welli, we just use a red shamy. We are getting a UV coating applied to our paint along with all the plastic. But still wax on, wax off is the key to keeping it all good. Will let the forum know how well it holds up. We already have some chips in the paint so we are hoping this will reduce chipping. But I like the idea of getting skins, just pricey
