Exclamation Forest Fires and Info

Please post pictures and information for forest fires in your area. Most of us spend recreational time in the forests of our beautiful country. Also, my hat's off to the brave men and women who fight these fires and to the many that support local and volunteer fire fighters across the country. It's because of you that we can enjoy these places for generations to come.

I have found this site to be the most useful in figuring out where forest fires are occurring.

Re: Forest Fires and Info

These shots are of the Beaver Creek Fire in northern Colorado on Sunday. We took these from about 30 miles away on Spruce Mountain Lookout in the Medecine Bow National Forest above Rob Roy Reservoir in Wyoming. This fire is approximately 27 miles from our camp this past weekend. I believe that is Big Agnes Mountain in the Routt National Forest in the background in Colorado.

We use those as well. They are both good resources.

The first link lists one active wildfire in Colorado, the second lists seven.

Re: Forest Fires and Info

I don't have any photos of the fire up by Bondurant, but they did open hwy 191 Friday evening. No passing or stopping along the way at turnouts for safety reasons. It's up to over 16,000 acres now.

There is another fire to the south of me on the east side of hwy 191 at Akley Basin right by Clay Basin. It started yesterday and was around 30 acres. They supposedly stopped it from spreading east at the last update.

Go ahead, skin it! Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens...

I'll ride in on a sunny day, Sing you a song, steal your heart away Like a cowboy Hang my hat like I'm here for awhile Kick off my boots and drive you wild Like a cowboy Well baby you know I can't stay long You wake up, I'll be gone Until then I'll hold on Like a cowboy.

Re: Forest Fires and Info

I'm looking more for personal pictures from members in their travels through wild fire areas. My wife and I, riding the ATV one day, actually found part of the Squirrel Creek(WY) fire still burning in 2013 about a month after they said it was contained. It was a small brush fire down in one of the little gullies. We called it in and they came out and extinguished it in a short amount of time.
