Re: Pictures of dogs in FJs

Took the doggos with us up into the Boise National Forest on Memorial Day. After a couple of hours letting them play off-leash in the Payette River, we took this trail headed into the mountain just past the Silver Creek Plunge. We love the mountains in Idaho!

My boy Jack passed away early this morning. Been fighting cancer for many months. R.I.P. good boy. Miss him terribly.
It's been over two months since Jack passed away. It still hurts, but the pain has become less frequent and less severe (mostly). We recently reached out to a local malamute rescue organization about walking dogs and maybe fostering. We sprung this guy from his kennel a few times last week and have begun to consider fostering him. He has been at our house the last 3-4 days and is really doing well, but he has some dog reactivity that needs work. I keep trying to tell him that if he plays his cards right, he could have a great life with us. Its nice having a dog around again, even if it sometimes reminds us of Jack.

Very nice! For me the pain of losing Kona has never left totally. But I can smile when I think about good times and knowing that I gave her a good life. So much better than her old.

Your new dog is not a replacement, just taking over. Remember the dogs last will that I sent you.

Wishing many happy years together.

Thanks Rotor. It's still too early to tell if he is going to be a permanent addition, or a foster. Considering he was living on the streets in Utah not too long ago, he is doing great. Tomorrow we are doing some controlled temperament testing with him and another dog. Hoping it goes well. That is his big hurdle. We simply can't have a dog-aggressive dog considering our lifestyle and activities.

To many of us dogs are like family members. Loosing them hurts, the pain just dulls over time, but never quite goes away.
We had to say goodbye to 2 of our dogs last year. Hermes, an Africanis mix due to old age and then 3 months later Naledi, a SPCA special had to be put down just a few days before I returned from tour in Djibouti, she suffered from very advanced liver and spleen cancer, which had not been detected before.

A few months later we moved on, our Boerboel missed dog company. So we got a proper Africanis girl, Isisa. Lovely girl.

You got my deepest sympathies and I hope all goes well with that pretty boy you got there.

I don't have many pictures of Scout in the Scout Wagon, because he usually jumps out as soon as I do. That being said, we do a lot of traveling, camping, and exploring together, and he's always up for it. I'm one of those crazies that considers my FJ a 2 seater, because the back row is for the pup, not passengers

Scout is an almost 2 year old Queensland heeler (or Australian cattle dog, same thing). We're on the central coast of CA, but in the time that I've had him, he's been all over California, and visited Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona. He visited more states in one year than I did by the time I was 25...

Went up to Timberline after a long day of exploring isolated trails and hiking to cool off and drink a beer. Olive resting in rear door shadow. Then we headed down to a lake so she could really cool off and swim. Great Saturday!!
