Not too bad in the wallet with all those speakers included! I like the looks if the 165s. Do I need any other custom enclosures for the other mounting locations for the rest of the speakers?
nope the 6-1/2 mid bass fits in the door fine , you would want to sound deaden them though , and you would need a sub-woofer of course

Re: Fiberglass A Pillar by Golf Echo with Focal 165 KRX3 3 way component speakers

so one 5 channel amp or one 4 channel amp and a mono amp for the sub is all you need to run the complete system

Cool, so a basic, proper, system as I was hoping I still need a sub and mono amp too but it's on the short list now.

I bet yours sounds unbelievable. To my untrained ear that budget setup will be plenty good for me I'm sure. Thanks!

Yeah that would be a killer set-up for sure and you wouldn't have a fortune in it that Kenwood head-unit would be fine to , get with me if you want if you do decide to do a system

Golf Echo did my pillars and I must say they sound amazing... I have the Hertz high energy (HSK 163) 3 ways, which for the price the sound quality is pretty amazing...

For the price I'm really impressed with the hertz hi energy's as well...the midbass is awesome and they handle a good bit of power. Like mentioned numerous times before make sure you sound deaden the doors and panels or your going to hear horrible rattling! Theres a company that makes a foam speaker ring/surround (f.a.s.t. ring)that will help direct the sound "out" rather than behind the door panels.

let me know how yours turn out brother
Will do so; currently on travel and need to take some measurements and pics of grills to send him upon return.

Still undecided about head unit; but will probably get the new Pioneer DVD player. Might not sound as good as their DEH-80PRS; but the extra digital interactive capabilities with other devices make it very attractive .

actually Focal makes a 165 AS 3 which are very good at a lot less than the 165 KRX3 and JL Audio makes a nice 3 way component speaker system JL C5-653
Curious as if you have heard both of these systems, and if yes, which one you liked best?
