Din or Double-Din???

I want to replace the head unit. I don't want to spend a ton of $$$ - just want the FJ to sound better... not like a TV. BestBuy, Circuit City, even Crutchfield all focus on single-din (or just Din?) head units. The double-din (4") units are scarce - and expensive.

What do you guys recommend? Standard 2" unit with the little pocket under it? I know very little about this stuff... (guess that's obvious huh).

Need some guru insights!

Thanks.

Re: Din or Double-Din???

Whatever you get is based on a personal preference. All my previous cars had single din aftermarket headunits. I went with a 2 DIN Kenwood DDX-8019 in the FJ. I wanted integrated NAV, Bluetooth, etc. While I like the unit it is not as simple to operate (while driving) as the single din units I have used before. There are a lot of screens to go through to get it to do what you want.

There are a few 1 din units that have a full size screen that pops out. I think the FJ dash looks better with a double din unit.

If you put in a single DIN, then you will have room left over for a CB radio in the other space.
