Is the JBL head Unit backwards compatible with older Fj's

I've been presented with the JBL head unit and I would like to install it in a 2008. I would like to know if this is possible. Would it require a different wiring harness etc? Does it fit in the factory dash and trim? I have searched high and low for an answer to this question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have JBL now ? If so, I would say (maybe) and just try it, its a very easy swap. IF you do not have JBL now, it wont work.

No. The 2008 did not come with the JBL from what I've read. I could be wrong. Can you tell me why the JBL head unit is not backwards compatible?

Here a photo of the JBL head unit that I pulled out of my 2014. Check out the 4 plug sets on the back side and see if your 2008's unit has the same arrangement.

The JBL and non JBL systems use very different plugs.
