Re: horn button for OEM switch slot?

I can take pics if need be...but i got a horn set up....i mounted the trumpets on the passenger side wheel well under the hood, mounted the compresser on the on the firewall, and i got a small "red" momentary button from Radio Shack for about 2 bucks...drilled a hole in one of the blanks left of the steering wheel...works and looks great...the horn is 138 decibles i like it there is a lot of dumb drivers around here and its nice to see there face when i light them up with the fire truck sounding horn!

Re: horn button for OEM switch slot?

I have the train horns but have not set them up yet. I want to go with the rear bumber setup but I will need to make brackets for this to hold up securely. I`ll wait for pictures for inspiration. In the mean time, I'm setting up a dual battery setup so I can't really use the passenger side for my horns.

These horns are rated at 154 DB at 150PSI. This is why I will be putting an air regulator. Lowering the PSI will in effect lower the volume of the air horn when I press the mom switch.

Re: horn button for OEM switch slot?

Here are some pics of my set-up with brief descriptions.

I made sure to attach a coupler for full time, all the time on board air. It is great to have when out on the trails or just around town. There are very few gas stations these days that have air and even fewer that don't charge for it.

toggle switch to switch back between factory horn and train horn. As I've said before, mine is wired into the steering wheel.

My compressor is mounted to the frame inside of the rear left tire.

This is a view of the horns mounted underneath the rear end of my truck.

Re: horn button for OEM switch slot?

Here are some more

Solenoid so my battery/alternator aren't killed when I run it briefly with the engine off.

pic of homemade bracket for four horns

pic of mounting point. for the most part I was able to use "pre-existing" holes.

Sorry I didn't think to do step by step pics whenever I did this. I wasn't a member of the forum at the time and was doing it late at nights most nights after work. Took a total of about 6 hours of labor including the wiring.

Hope these pics help, if there are any better angles that you would like to see, please feel free to recommend.

Re: horn button for OEM switch slot?

Great pis. exactly what I'm looking for. Looks like horns from Hornblasters.
Looks like the horn pic is upside down.

I have a dual viair to hook up and I will be using these pics as inspiration.

Did you bolt the compressor into factory holes in the frame?

No, I've had them on since october and have been in plenty of mud, some up to 18" deep. That is why I have them parallel with the ground.

I think I may have drilled one of the holes, I can't remember exactly.
