Dirty Parts Alternator Voltage Booster??

Has anyone used one of these things? Seems like an odd one, sounds good and I know they make good products but I just wanted to see what opinions are on the long term use of something like this.

I know a bit about electrical, but not enough to judge if this is a good or bad upgrade, or if its much of an upgrade at all.

Certainly a better option than paying $50 AUS and also $50 AUS for shipping.... which is the route I went as well

I can't speak to the quality of the Dirty Parts one but mine from Australia has worked flawlessly.

Suck it up... it's only -40

YOu can roll your own for about .50! It's just a diode that causes a .7 voltage drop in the sense line for the alternator thereby increasing the output voltage for use with AGM batteries.

Re: Dirty Parts Alternator Voltage Booster??

There was a discount code floating around for the HK one. I didn't pay $50US, even including shipping.

Yep, that's exactly what @Jawboney did.

Re: Dirty Parts Alternator Voltage Booster??

Yea it looks like a replica of Jawbony's build, a lot of us have replicated this design with great results. Like Vegas Nick said you can do this yourself very cheap.

Re: Dirty Parts Alternator Voltage Booster??

I have the HKB unit as well and it works great - clean simple design, very easy to install. I looked at some of the "make your own" threads, but for the cost and time savings I thought the HKB unit was well worth it. With the exchange rate and discount code that @RichJacot mentioned, it was under $50 US (including shipping) and arrived within a week. I paid with my Amex so no foreign transaction fees either.

Will for food!
