Re: My Next Mod... Monitor mounting in rear view mirror

I mounted my GPS in the exact location your talking about. Depending on the year you there is a console on the roof. I mounted a plate from the rear view mirror to this console.

Re: My Next Mod... Monitor mounting in rear view mirror

The screen is an older discontinued Pyle setup that came with it's own flush mount bracket. I got creative in the visor to mount it with some inexpensive sheet metal and folded tabs. The cameras were just some $15 pieces from Amazon. Overall, a very basic system that is easy to operate, but doesn't offer the best resolution.

I think this is the newer model of the monitor: Pyle 9'' Video Display Monitor, Quad View (4) Source Zone Display, Multiple Source Input, Selectable Viewing Mode, Backup Camera Compatible (White) - Walmart.com

I removed the plastic bezels, taped off the buttons and painted the plastic to match the sun visor as closely as I could. I ran the wires down the A-pillar to a space under the far left driver's air vent. Basically you connect power, and the RCA inputs from the cameras and you're done. Pretty simple setup and controls.

Wow, thats cool. You can get 4 different camera views. That would be great under truck view cameras when out 4 wheeling (eyes under your truck).
Got me thinking.
thanks
My original intent was a rear camera, a front camera and two for the front wheels. The rear is mostly for daily driving. The front would be to help my short self see in front of me when I'm cresting hills off road. The two wheel cameras would help in to see where the tires are in relation to whatever I'm getting ready to climb over.

You can choose one large camera view, two cameras, or all four displayed. You can also select which camera to display in which view and whether you want them mirrored or not. Very handy.

I went a different route and put the monitor in the visor instead. 9" screen with 4 camera inputs and a remote control. I'd love to find a higher resolution version of something like this, but the 480 resolution isn't that bad.

Omg wow .. Bro your the man .. That is way to cool . I love the location of monitor but my intent purpose was a simple setup for parking and going into my driveway front facing camera . Bro you should patent that idea

What kind of cameras are you looking at for this? Love the wireless idea, but haven't delved too far into it.

Re: My Next Mod... Monitor mounting in rear view mirror

Got mine off of eBay which also is wireless with an iPhone or android app you download from the instruction booklet you get
It's made by RoRo cam (the app) The camera is a toGaurd Novatech 1080P
It's wifi connectable and you can record that drunk driver that is ready to cause a crash or whatever you want to record then download the video to your pc, you tube or what ever your fancy is plus it is also saved to the SD card or connectable to an outside source with 7 pin cable
I attached a pic of the listing on eBay

These project costs for stuff like this is on the low priority list so for $64 bucks you can't beat it

You can see the app icon right next to the form app
