@vbprsx

Where did you mount your dual 8" JL microsub? I'm trying to keep my cargo area intact and considering the non-powered version.

Re: Anybody Done a 3-Piece Component Setup?

I have a component system up front in the dash and doors. I also have some 4" 2 ways by the back gate. Really there's no need for the pillar setup imo. My sound stage is outstanding!!! The sound is amazing at all volume levels and the speakers look stock to anyone passing by. Some people argue there's no need for rear speakers and that may be true, but all I know is my system sounds great and it fills the cabin with rich music. If I had to do it again I wouldn't change a thing.

My 22 mile commute would be drastically less entertaining without my system!

EDIT: I have a single 10" sub which sounds great but if I were to change anything I'd add another 10" sub on the opposite side. I've heard a few systems that hit a lot harder than mine does [looking at you Irving Zisman]. Mine sounds GREAT, but it could hit harder sometimes.

I'd look at the JL TW3 shallow mount subs

I'm currently running a set of JL Audio C5 3-ways. 1" tweeter, 4" mid in custom a-pillars, 6.5" woofers in the doors going through a passive crossover. The speakers are an AMAZING value and sound great.

Like ZoSoIV mentioned you'll get the most out of your 2 or 3 way system with a DSP. I was running the JLs straight off the amp and thought it sounded pretty good....till I ran the signal through a DSP and took the time to tune it. The DSP took the staging and clarity of the speakers to its full potential and I was completely BLOWN away by the results. It's a royal pain in the ass to run all the wiring for amps, speakers, and DSP but it was worth it in the end.

If I had any advice to give it'd be to invest your money in the best possible speakers that you can afford and get a decent DSP. Spend the money now versus redoing your stereo system a bunch of times like I did. ?

So you used the passive crossovers ? Or did you go active with the DSP ?

Re: Anybody Done a 3-Piece Component Setup?

I used the JL passive cross overs and didn't go active. I'm sure I could get more control going active through the DSP but running 6 separate channels for the fronts to isolate the tweeters, mids, and woofers would have been a major pain in the ass.

kinda of via JL XD have a six channel amp plus you would need a sub amp

Agreed passive is the way to go unless your in competition

Done and thanks. Looks like the JL CS 110LG-TW3 will meet my needs (I don't require Richter-scale bass), and the provided enclosure will fit above the passenger side rear wheel well. I have to keep the entire cargo area usable for gear.

Should work fine with the sub outputs of the JL XD500/3V2 amp?

Re: Anybody Done a 3-Piece Component Setup?

Cool great sub ... yes the XD 500/3v2 mono channel is perfect at 300 watts RMS which is the sweet spot for that sub ... just GET the dual 4 ohm sub and wire it parallel which will give you a 2 ohm load
