A/C will not blow cool air and A/C light won't turn off

Hello, I have a 2009 FJ, I went out for dinner and when I hopped back in the A/C simply stopped cooling, the blower blows, if I turn the temp to heat it blows hot, the "recycle" button works but the A/C light stays on no matter what I do, I am aware that the temp dial cant be on "Max AC" in order to turn the A/C button off. Even on Heat the A/C button wont turn off.

In summary AC is not blowing cool air and it's also not acting properly. Not sure where to start with this issue.

Has anyone had a similar issue??

Yes, on our 2007.

After about an hour of driving, it corrected itself. This happened maybe eight years ago, and I have had no subsequent issues with the AC.

That has not been the case here.

I took it to the shop, the Evaporator has a leak... time for a new one. I was hoping it was something less invasive...

Thanks for your help tho

Yes happened to me a while back. I checked this forum and found others had the same issue. Found a thread that suggested changing the mag clutch relay. It solved my problem.

I had the exact same problem you are having, and it was also the mag clutch relay for me, cost $7 at the local Autozone... maybe ask some questions of your shop before they start replacing things.

Thanks for the Heads up, I took it to two different shops where they ran the same pressure tests on the AC parts and the diagnostic result was the same, Evap leak.
