Avic-D3 + Iphone 3G users - Help!

Over on avic411 there are a few people who had stated that they were able to get their 3G iphones to charge with their D3's and the Scosche Passport adapter.

Well, I bought one last week and it doesnt work. I've tried posting over @ avic411 to no avail.

So.. if any of you D3 + iphone 3g guys out there have an integrated charging solution - I'd appreciate tips!

Thanks!!

I noticed in an in-law's car that the Scosche adapter had to be plugged in pretty snug. If it was off by even the slightest bit sideways, it didn't seem to make contact. Check that the adapter is seated fully and it might be worth trying to exchange for another PassPORT. I'm pretty sure it should work!

I'm quite sure the adapter is in snugly as I'm able to pull data off the iphone successfully.

What I believe is happening here is that I'm missing a setting or need to perform some sort of 'hack' to get it to work. The apple store forums state that the adapter does not work with the D3, contrary to the folks over on avic411.

btw, my iphone has been jailbroken, so I have no qualms about 'hacking' it.

Interesting!

There's also another one by Ridax, but I'm not sure if it would work either... Here: iPod/iPhone Dock Connector ordering

And nothing from Pioneer for an updated cable yet?

I have the AVIC Z1 and I have the same problem with my 3G Iphone. All of those aftermarket adapters will still give you that charge display warning.

Re: Avic-D3 + Iphone 3G users - Help!

Folks on avic411 had reached out to Pioneer to inquire if an updated cable were going to be available and they stated that there will not. ugh.

Re: Avic-D3 + Iphone 3G users - Help!

Does anyone else with the iPhone 3g have to unpair and re-pair with their AVID d3 every time they get in the car?

If you don't have to, is there some setting or anything I'm missing.

As of now, every time I get in the vehicle I have to unpair my iphone, go to BT-Telephone, go into pairing mode, then pair from iphone side, then i'm set, but every time I turn the car off and then start it back up, i have to do it all over again....

Semper ab imo pectore.

Re: Avic-D3 + Iphone 3G users - Help!

Quick question....
Doesn't the 3G have the same adapter as an Ipod?
Pioneer makes an Ipod cable that connects directly to the back of the D3 (I have it)
It charges my Ipod Touch but I do not know about the iPhone.
Sorry not much help here....I'm a Blackberry.

Pioneer AVIC-D3 w/ Ipod cable, Bluetooth & XM Module
Rockford 400w Amp w/ (2) ED 8" Subs in a custom box

Looking at next:
Roof Rack (if it will still fit in the garage)
Does this list ever stop?

Re: Avic-D3 + Iphone 3G users - Help!

I have the USASPEC PA15-TOY and had the same issue when I went from the gen1 iPhone to the 3G. The problem (like outlined above) is the gen1 iPhone being firewire and the 3G adopting the full USB2. USASPEC released a new cable about 2 months ago and everything works fine including charging.

I would suspect the Avic will have a new cable available soon if not now.
