There are some black OEM TRD/TT wheels that have been on KSL for a week. He just dropped the price to $550 for 5 wheels and worn BFGs

He told me he would take $550 a week ago so I bet $400-$450 would buy them now:

Re: Welcome Utah

That would be a good deal. I like those and the grey ones. They all look good on Tacos too.

Go ahead, skin it! Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens...

I'll ride in on a sunny day, Sing you a song, steal your heart away Like a cowboy Hang my hat like I'm here for awhile Kick off my boots and drive you wild Like a cowboy Well baby you know I can't stay long You wake up, I'll be gone Until then I'll hold on Like a cowboy.

If not for the 16 inch situation, they'd be mine already. I'd need tires along with the new rims. A good deal turns into an expensive one!!

Re: Welcome Utah

I hear you. I'm still looking and trying to decide on tires. I had these rotated a couple of weeks ago and they are nasty loud now. The tread is almost gone and hard as a rock. They even make noise on dirt.

You could always pick up the wheels and set them aside until you needed tires, or sell your tires and then get new.

Go ahead, skin it! Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens...

Yea I did consider that. Although I really dig these Goodyear Wrangler Authorities, I'm not sure people would pay much just because they're from Walmart. If only they knew how good of a tire it has been. Pretty much the same feel, tread, and look to the Goodyear DT (not to be mistaken for DP, haha). I think the only FJ compatible size they have are the 265 70 17s like mine.

The 16 inch 285 DTs are a lot cheaper than the 17 285s which was something I considered in the swap considerations for the long term.....

You should definitely try the DTs knowing what conditions you drive in. I bet you will say the traction improvement is night and day over the BFG AT tkos.

I don't want to see metal poking out of your tires on the skyline like I used to run back in my NJ pizza delivery days, haha. Balder than bald tires I had.

Re: Welcome Utah

These aren't quite bald yet, but damn close. It sucks as they are only about 14 1/2 months old with a little over 34,000 miles. The first two sets on the FJ I got around 45K each. The last set was a couple of hundred miles short of 50K and they were shot. I blew one a week before I went to get the new ones. All of the dirt roads I played on this summer ate them up bad.

My nephew got me prices on some where he worked:

Duratracs are approx $1550.00
Cooper ?? are approx $1250.00

These BFGs were $1250.00 and locally on the web site they are about the same still.

Go ahead, skin it! Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens...

Yea those DTs are top dollar compared to other brands. I thought those 16 285s were a lot cheaper than that. That's the same quote I got for 17 285s for five.

The only bad thing I've read about the coopers is that they go out of balance. That may be the MTs that people seem to like overall.

You might have to create tons of new threads about the shakes that we all love.

Re: Welcome Utah

I don't know anyone that has run the Coopers. I had one set of Goodyears on my '85 Mustang GT and they were smooth bald at 30,000 as they were lower profile street tires. I've run BFGs for about 20 years and know a lot of people who do. It's hard to decide which way to go. If I was still working I wouldn't worry so much about the price difference.

Back to one of the posts above, the Spaten is pretty good. I really like the Oktoberfest of theirs. I also get a few different styles of the Ayinger and really like them.

Yup all of those lighter colored Germans I dig too. The dark beers just give me a headache, congestion, and methane! I don't think a lot of people realize that Pilseners also have high alcohol content compared to darker beers in general.

That's crazy how many fewer miles you got out of the latest set of BFGs. I ran those things for years on my Tacoma pickup and got good mileage but not good winter traction compared to the DTs I had on it too. Obviously a lot lighter in the ass end though too...

I like the looks of the Nittos and I see a lot of the pickup truck crowd running them here. They seem to be lower priced. I've read about chunking of those on sharp rocks. I've never had that with BFGs DTs or any other tire I have owned.
