Lots of free or very cheap camping in the Colorado river road (128?). Also one of the most scenic roads in the US.

Yes there are many cool campsites along the river near the trailhead to Poison Spider, nestled up against bright red cliffs...and sandy beaches, just beautiful. In July the bugs there were awful so we camped literally at the entrance to Fins - slept out on the slickrock, so beautiful and bugless lol. Small fee though. I agree about Fins as a fun trail - both that and Hells Revenge are much easier than they look, sort of like a carnival ride, and incredibly scenic, absolutely a unique experience.

Hoping to do WR next year so happy to see this thread - GL to OP and post pix!!

Anyone have ideas of free camping for one night near Moab? I'm sleeping in the truck so no tent.
Scroll down to the bottom of this link for a map of free camping areas on public land.
