Will 285/70/17 mounted onto the stock 17" FJ alloy rub without a lift or BMC? Or is a lift absolutely necessary?

I'm running 285/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on stock wheels with a lift with no rub... that said, my alignment is set way off factory. With factory alignment numbers, they rub and full turn, above the horizontal level. I don't think it's possible to run 285s of any tire without a lift... unless you plan on driving in a straight line only.

Thank you. I am trying to avoid lifting my FJ as it won't fit in my garage without removing the roof rack.

Re: FJ Cruiser Specific 16"17" Wheel/Tire Fitment Guide

kengray I looked up the fuel octane wheels and they only come in one 17" size - 17x8 with -5mm offset which means 285's will fit fine - if you're not going to lift then you'll for sure need to trim the body mount.

Re: FJ Cruiser Specific 16"17" Wheel/Tire Fitment Guide

Wouldn't it be amazing if tire manufaturers just made the tires the size they should be. -Would definately help a lot of folks.
