Less tire weight but taller tire......

I spoke with a man at discount tires today about the nitto terra grapplers. I was wondering about the weights of the sizes 295/70R17 and 285/75R17. Comes out that they weigh in at 56lbs a piece. If I were to ditch my 285/70R17 Firestone MT's (61lbs) would I see better or worse MPG going with either tire?

Would depend on what kind of rolling resistance they have. Also the wider the tire the more wide resistance you would see so I would expect the 295 even though lighter to give you a little worse MPG or the same.
