After having paid a million dollars for a key with a gold Toyota logo on it, I decided to not do that again. I've been looking at what was needed to get a spare and working key for the FJ.

I bought one of these programmers:

      https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UUOTNZ4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

      I also bought a key:

      https://www.carandtruckremotes.com/...mui=f:1340:305777429:0Tx2zViHkLrXVCCc4Pkk4bMC

As I'm reading how to accomplish the programming, I noticed that my keys (yes, I have the PO's key but the remote unlock/lock part was broken off) both are L series keys and what I bought was a G series key. I don't know if they are compatible so I decided I'll just pull the metal part out of the new blank key and insert the PO key. Wouldn't you know it, the &*^*&#$)@(*#&!!!!!! key is molded into the (*&)(*&#@@@*#**[email protected]#$*& fob body. Fek.

I poked around some more and have ordered this:

      https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TB1GWXW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This looks like it will work now that I've got the original key de-fobbed. Hopefully it will work and then all I have to do is program the fob to the FJ. Wouldn't that be lovely?

I bought the amazon toyota key and found that the key blade was detachable (not molded in), and my only purpose for it was to put it in an AJT case [emoji23]. Hope it works out for you!
