OK some big updates this last bit started in September and just finished a few days ago. Part 1: Replacement rear storage. I made this to replace my wooden frame I have had for 4-5? years. I made it out of 1" 1/16" thk square tube with 4 panels and a 2 logistics tracks recessed in for a sooth...

I'm not dead, just not quite modding as much as before. The rack was a success. It was a temporary fix for our big bend trip and it served great as our kitchen. Recently I upped my battery game with a 2X power 27F battery. 1 battery that has the standby minutes of 2. I also finished...
  3. Show me your roof top tents

    Camping Equipment
Did a bit of central Texas exploring in a scavenger hunt. We expected to do a bunch of backing up so we decided to not bring the trailer on this one. 2 weeks later its back on our trailer for Lonestar Toyota Jambo in Texas.

Time for some more modifications. I picked up a once used 50 QRT ARB for a steal, now the FJ and the 4Runner have fridges. I am going to keep the fridge behind the driver seat, I still have room to have my seat in the position I like and it keeps it out of the rear cargo area. We are going to...
  5. Ideas for increasing sway bar <-> CV boot clearance?

    4x4 / Off-Road Tech
Remove front swaybars, keep the rear. I had discos for about 6 months couldn't get them to work well so been non-swaybar for a few years now it is not bad.

Wavian cans can do this also, they are also not cheap 50-70 easy per can and steel.
  8. Side Ladder Fabrication

    4x4 / Off-Road Tech
Cool, one more thing to look out for is try to not make the tolerances very tight on the ladder. Most people want to make everything fit super tight to make it not rattle, while this is true, if you get any dust and dirt on the assembly you have a huge chance of jamming. If anything use the pins...
  9. Side Ladder Fabrication

    4x4 / Off-Road Tech
I'm assuming you have or will have another rack for your tent. If so store the ladder under the tent. If your tent has a side entry exit you don't have a good option for body mounted ladder, if your wheeling the FJ your body is going to move upwards of 1" compared to the frame.
  10. winch gear

    4x4 / Off-Road Tech
Winch extension line, it helps for the obvious long pulls but its also good if you only have to pull yourself a few feet but the nearest winch point is much farther away. Lets you only need to let out a few feet of winch line.
  11. Rusted rock slider safe to use?

    4x4 / Off-Road Tech
Sorry to hear, my wife had the complete opposite response when we got sliders on her 4Runner.
  12. What do you haul on top of your FJ?

    General Discussion
All sorts of stuff. Right now just some tred pros but the last camping trip I had the tent, chainsaw, 5 gal gas, 1 gal 2 stroke and the treds up there. Until I got my trailer though I used the roof rack as my truck bed. I have had assembled treadmills, beds, sheet metal, wood, kayaks and we...

  14. Rusted rock slider safe to use?

If discounted appropriately sure sell them. Mine aren't rusted and those look to be in better shape than mine. Quick question, why are going to running boards selling the FJ?

  16. slick MAXTRAX mount for BajaRack

    Misc. Technical Discussion
I know I did that on purpose for mine, make it convenient to get but not too convenient so people don't walk away with them.
  17. Did you mod your FJ or have someone do the work?

    General Discussion
I did 99% of it. I didn't do the suspension the first time mainly because I don't like the idea of messing with springs and then driving out of alignment. I was able to the front suspension at a shop the second time and it was easy. I posted most of what I did on my signature. Honestly its not...
  18. slick MAXTRAX mount for BajaRack

    Misc. Technical Discussion
Nice, how is the wind noise? I moved my Treds to the rear of the rack to cut down on highway wind noise.

Most of them don't require any additional maintenance after they are set up.
  20. Help With Roof Top Decisions

    Camping Equipment
The swags are nice and I'm glad they are coming to the US. Might think about getting on if we decide to not run a RTT. We have loved it though especially since ours is a 4 season and nice and warm in the winter.
