I just pull on the footrest to remove it off the floor. The white clips will remain on the studs. You just spin the retaining clips off the studs by spinning them counterclockwise. Once off the studs, you can snap the retaining clips back on the footrest and you are good to go.

Wow, definitely remove that and use stock harness with fuse and relay. It didn't take me more than 20 min for my install.

I had the same sound on my truck which had 40k. Service advisor said he couldn't hear it but the service tech said he could hear it. It was louder during startup and would fade as engine was warmed up. It ended up being idler pulley and they replaced it with no cost to me.
