Dang i didn't know the TT package cost an extra 5K. I just looked it up on the Toyota website. That's pretty pricey for what it is.

Is the steel plated dash the diamond plate looking thing that goes over where the radio and a/c controls are?

Yeah stupid upgrade I know... But It looks sweet!
Just go look at a new TT Edition at your dealership and you will see that it is an extra 5k

What I dont get though most everyone has just talked SH1t!!! "Like too much money, I can pick up a brand new TT for 28k", Well one question, Why did you pick up your panda colored one for the same price?

???

I am lost on the panda statement.

I think you might be able to make more money and sell faster if you parted out some things. Say, the Navi or dvd head rest, something like that. You are going to barely add anything to the price of the vehicle for resale with all of that. You will be able to sell it faster and get more money back if you part it out. This is just my opinion and what i have found from people trying to sell highly modified rigs.

Because I never wanted an all white one ?

I think people are making the comment on your asking price because the dealers seem to be offering them for a lot less. You may have paid $44,000 but the reality is that current retail, as well as resale seems to be a lot less.

***** Just a little side note in that I made this comment because I have seen FJs that people have invested over $55,000 and they have sold in the low $30,000s recently. No one is trying to be rude. **********

i was just stating the facts my dealer gave me for there tt, but its hard to sell a rig with options unless people really want them. Like for example i wouldnt want the nav or the tvs so thats an extra 3k i dont need to spend. Might be better parting the extras off then selling the rig seprate. But sorry to burst youre bubble on the value. I would trade in if you were telling the truth on what the dealer was going to give you.

I picked up the X-1 Bumper today and saw the rig in question. It is very clean. You guys should chill a bit on the scathing of other's posts. Nick was a cool cat and even though he comes from a tuner background he thought he'd give the off-road thing a try, he posts up on here, and gets smacked around. Try to understand where he is coming from and help a brotha' out if he's asking too much. The dealership pumped up the price on his rig with options and knew they could get it (it was the first TT in Utah). He is still undecided on the whole off-road thing so he is testing to see if he could re-coop a good portion of the money he's put into it still taking a big loss. We all understand that all the mods we do after the fact will be pretty much disregarded in a selling price, but except tires a lift his FJ is the same FJ that was on his window sticker.

We can all do a little more constructive criticism and less outright criticism I think.

Thanks for the deal on the bumper. I'd give you rep, but I can't even remember what it was.

Yeah no ones really trying to be rude. What most people don't realize is mods are worth next to nothing when selling a car. You're better off parting them out. You'll get about 50% on them that way. Selling the car usually only brings about 15% over the asking price if you're lucky. The problem is alot of people finance those modded trucks from the dealer and then they are really stuck. I sold a modded Mustang once with about 25 grand in it. It sold for 3K more than stock. The price of mods is very expensive when you look at it that way. That's why I buy my sports cars nealry maxed out now. My new Z06 doesn't really need mods.

Yeah man! I bought the thing for 40+++! They said they would give me 34,000. Then who the hell knows what they would price it at! Im already losing 10+ grand! I dont take any of my cars there, I personally dont like carmax. Thanks anyway. I really dont need to sell so if I dont get what I want, then Ill just keep it...
If I paid over 40k for a TT it would be made by Audi.

Just throwing my two cents out:

I think what everyone is saying is that whoever buys his truck shouldn't be paying for his mistake. If he bought it wrong, that's his problem, but even at a "$10k loss" you can't expect someone to spend a premium on a truck just because he bought it wrong. He needs to be realistic and if he really wants to sell it, offer it at a price where it will actually sell. Even if that means he has to eat a little crow and lose some money. That's the game you play when you buy a car on impulse and then try to ditch it soon after.

Reminds me of when I went to look at a 2006 Subaru STI a guy had for sale. He had it for a reasonable price but when I went and looked at it, it was beat to heck. For the condition he was asking a considerable premium on the price. The reason was because he had been raped by the dealer on it because he had bad credit and he "HAD TO HAVE IT!" Just because I felt bad for him and he made mistakes doesn't mean I should bail him out and buy a car at a premium that was totally not worth the asking price, even though he was still going to be losing money on the deal.

No flames here, just saying that the bro needs to do a lot more research and negotiating before buying a car. I'm one of those types who buys cars and turns around and sells them quickly, but I've been fortunate enough that I've bought the cars right and even selling "at a loss" when I got out of them, I've never been updside down on a car. And I'm only 25. It's doable, you just have to work at it.
