What is the going (i.e. current) rate?

I live in Washington state, drive an '08 AT w/ 30,000 miles to date but my warranty expires in April and I am contemplating the extended coverage.

Also, aren't the drive train and tranny covered longer than the bumper to bumper 36k?

5 year 60,000 power train.

The cost depends on the coverage platinum gold etc. Then some states have laws that don't allow marking them up, some 50% and some states know their business and stay out of it. Maybe someone in Washington can chime in.

The dealer I bought mine from has Lifetime Power train warranty so all I bought was the 8yr 125k mile bumper to bumper warranty. It was only like $2,000 or just a lil more but it wasn't over $2500. I though it was pretty good.

I just got my 8yr/125K/$0 deduct Toyota Platinum warranty today from Jerry Jones at Midwest Toyota in KS for $1399 over the phone. My FJ is at 35,479 miles and 2.5 years of service and has had no less than 10 warranty repairs already. Without this extended warranty I would be forced to trade in on something else and loose way more $ than this warranty cost. Fun truck but a real repair pain...

I just came back from my dealer today where I was quoted $1650 for the 7yr/100k platinum tsc. I mentioned how much cheaper things were being offered to which the finance manager said that toyota doesn't always honor plans purchased online since something about the vehicle safety can't be vetted. I told him I'd take the chance in order to save ~40%.

I bet his price will come down by the time we speak again...
