It’s now been a year since I first got my 2007 2WD FJ cruiser. These last 365 days have been an absolute blast and I couldn’t have picked a better truck. In that time frame, I have made a lot of mods and repairs. Both planned and unexpected. Here’s a list of what additions I have made to Solo ( like Han Solo) along with some parts and prices.

  • Wheel Bearings ($200)
  • Fuel Pump ($300)
  • U Joints ($90)
  • Brakes ($40)
  • Spark Plugs ($30)
  • Idler pulleys ($115)
  • Belt Tensioner ($32)
  • Belt ($25)
  • Oil change and filter ($40)
  • Coolant ($25)
  • Black Side Mirrors ( Previous owner gave for free but installed myself)
  • Headlight bulbs ( $40)
  • Stabilizer bar End Links ( $75 for 2)
  • 3’ lift w/ Bilstein 5100 shocks and OME 2885 Coils ( $1050)
  • 4 Used 4Runner wheels ( $300)
  • 5 used Falken Wildpeak A/T Tires ($700)
  • JBA STD High Caster UCAs ($560)
  • Driver Side Cargo Molle Panel from Orangeboxx ($115)
  • Rexing V1 4K Dash Cam ($100)
  • Eternal Happiness ( came with the truck)

Total Invested - $3954

Like I said, it’s been a blast. Both in my life and in my wallet! But I’ve had so much fun with this truck and I can’t wait to invest more. Can’t wait to hit the trails soon!

Congrats!

It’s good to keep track of your expenses because it can creep up quickly. I’ve had my 07 2wd FJ since thanksgiving last year and it’s been a blast as well. Best vehicle I’ve owned and I got it for under market. I figure I’ll have mine for another 100-150k so like you did I went ahead and caught up on maintenance deferred by the previous owner and my list is a bit longer than yours. Now that the maintenance is caught up it should be a lot cheaper to own for the next 150k.

I separate expenses like oil change, filter and tires as incidental driving expenses, almost like gas. Dashcam is movable between vehicles so I don’t consider it a FJ specific cost.
