Still want to put outlets back there though. I think I’ll just run a big wire straight from the battery with an in-line 40A fuse for two outlets. Does anyone know if 40A is too much to go through the fuse panel!

Step 10: Now connect the wires to the 12v outlet, install your top cover and blank cover. Here is the finished product.

That's a good write-up. I just hate the 12V cigarette lighter connector. They are wimpy and a slight tug = unplug. So, borrowing from the boat world, I went a different way (pic).

These are watertight and I am about to mount one on my cowl for IR spotlight. I already have one in the cab hooked to main battery.

Now I just need to find a place to mount my 110VAC battery charger for my Ryobi tools - then things get even ezier...

I put 2 in the center console next to the shifter and one in the back by the rear plug to run a small air compressor. They have been there for 13 years now and still working great. Cheap to buy and easy to install :)
