AllCal Meet 2010

Registration is now closed.

this year, AllCal will be held in Northern California at Hollister Hills SVRA. the NorCal edition has been moved into the middle of summer because we plan on changing venues every other year and we need to make sure the snow has all melted (snow still blocks most of the popular trails in the Sierras).

Date: Friday, July 30 - Sunday, August 01, 2010
Location: Hollister Hills SVRA (Camping at Area 5 in Hollister Hills SVRA)
Registration fee: $30.00. Your registration fee includes:

* admission for one vehicle into Area 5 (base camp)
* 3 days admission to the park
* 2 nights camping
* 1 t-shirt
* 2 meal tickets for the Saturday Night BBQ sponsored by BozTec
* 1 prize drawing ticket

* donations will be accepted for additional t-shirts, prize drawing tickets and meal tickets.

Hollister Hills SVRA provides numerous trails of all levels as well as two obstacle courses. In addition, the park has a separate, much larger trail system for motorcycles and ATVs. The Area 5 group campground can accommodate over 100 vehicles. It has flushing toilets, hot showers, fire pits and a stage. These facilities were made possible by our friends at the local TLCA chapter, Mountain Transit Authority.

More details will be made available within the coming days.

For volunteer and vendor opportunities, please PM potatomutato or email at potatomutato...at...norcalfj(dot)com.

Re: AllCal Meet 2010

Can't wait!
Thanks Bill :).
I have been to Holister for many Motocross races. A very neat place. I will make very effort to hit this event. Anything that is not in the desert is always a favorite of mine.

awesome! would be good to see you again.

UPDATE: there has been talk about possibly adding another night (Thursday night) for those who may want to take Friday off and leave after work on Thursday. if we get enough folks interested, we'll look into reserving another night. let me know!

also, if some of you are not into the camping thing, the town of Hollister has some lodging as does Gilroy (Garlic Capital of the World) and Morgan Hill. for those who may not want to wheel both days and are looking for something else to do for a few hours during the day, there are six wineries within a five mile drive of Hollister Hills if you are interested in wine tasting.
The park will be too busy to get away. Hope all have a great time!

bummer. yeah, Yosemite in the summer?...i'd say it gets a lil' busy.
some of you may already know that Hollister Hills is home to the annual Top Truck Challenge. you'll get to check out obstacles such as Frame Twister and Tank Trap. although the second half of Frame Twister is navigable depending on how rutted out it is, the first half and Tank Trap is highly not recommended for FJCs.

see you at the end of July! :bigthumb:
i've added a .pdf of the layout of Hollister Hills in the AllCal 2010 discussion on the NorCal site since it was too large to attach here.

please note that the .pdf is slightly dated and does not include the new obstacle course and several trails (including our favorite, Lost Hollow...stories to follow). that being said, it should provide you with a good idea of how the park is laid out and the level of trails in the network.

the 4x4 area and Area 5 (base camp) are in Upper Ranch. please let me know if you have any questions.
Steve, have we decided on if the start will begin on Thursday night?
Steve, have we decided on if the start will begin on Thursday night?
it will most likely be an "unofficial" Thursday start. we probably won't spring for the group camp unless we have a minimum of about 20 rigs willing to head in early and split the cost. there are plenty of other campsites in the park itself where we will stay on Thursday night. then it's setup first thing Friday morning!
