Located up here in the rust belt where road salt destroys aftermarket steel bumpers, rock guards/sliders and skid plates. There are aluminum skid plates and bumpers available but having a tough time finding aluminum sliders and guards. Does anyone know of anyone that stock or custom make FJ aluminum Rock Sliders/guards? Thanks.

IIRC, aluminum doesn't make ideal sliders/guards because the material tend to gall and stick, rather than slide like steel or poly does.

actually, aluminum would be less likely to bend :) Here's why:

Generally, Al is 1/3 the density of steel, and 80% the strength of it (static load). The main challenge when building structure with aluminum is its fatigue strength is quite poor compared with steel, so one must design for only about 50% of its strength to stay out of its fatigue zone. In the case of skid plates fatigue is not a concern, so it is fair to say that Al is nearly as strong as mild steel (something like 250ksi for Al vs. 285ksi for 1010 steel). Since it is so much less dense, it can also be much thicker without weight penalty (and stiffness is proportional to the cube of the thickness), and so the end result is far more rigid (this is also why aluminum bike frames tend to be so rigid they require full suspension when a tange steel tubed bike frame can flex and get away with no suspension at all)

But the galling and sticking that aluminum does when dragged over rocks would still be an issue.
And isolating the sheets of aluminum from the steel frame (so it doesn't cause the steel to galvanically rust sacrificially) would be another issue for a truck driven in all weather/all season.

Maybe have them galvanized.

Like the ones they have OEM on Ford vans (like U-Haul). They are literally sliders the way they mount to the frames
