Hey bajataco,

Have you had experience using/mounting/removing the ARB simpson II on top of that rack yet? Sure would love to know if ARB has come up with a quick release or an easier way to remove it (the tent) from the rack.
No, they had the tent off the rack when I arrived, and were planning on installing it on the silver FJ just as I was leaving. I didn't stick around to see how it went. Do you have one? Any comments on it?

Hey Sean, how's it going? No, not mad. Why would I be mad?
Just wondering since you didn't reply when I asked you about Wolfie earlier in the thread (post# 7 ).

No biggie....figured you probably didn't see it, hence the ;) .

Everything's going great here. No complaints....'course no one will listen.

Hope all's well on your end.

Hey Chris! Nice to see ya over here. Talk to Wolfie lately? How's he doing?

Sean King
You're right Sean, I missed it and didn't reply. Sorry about that :) Actually, I haven't talked to him in a while, but I think he's doing well.

Okay, time for another post from the road:

I had another good day. I left Eugene early and had a beautiful drive along the Willamette river corridor, then made my way to Crater lake. The north entrance was closed, so I had to make a substantial detour to the south entrance. It was another nice sunny day and the water was bluer than blue can be! I'm in Reno now, and just had a wonderful dinner with some friends where I am staying tonight.

A few photos from today:

A canoe team on the water in Oregon

Along the Wilammete drive, I stopped at McCredie hot springs for a nice soak.

And Crater lake. . .

Yes i have it.. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!:rocker:

Except for mounting/removing it. If you have average man-sized hands, than it is next to impossible to tighten down, or loosen the front mounts.

Hopefully you can pass that along to ARB! :bigthumb:

Is this the same FJ they took to Australia? It would be pretty awesome if it is, not that it isn't already awesome that you get to drive it. Ask them if they need someone to test it in a SoCal suburban environment, driving it to school and whatnot
Yes, this is the one that went to Australia. It still has some permit decals on it from the trip, so I'll post a pic of those next time I get a chance. They're kind of cool :)

Thanks for the welcome

Ok, more pics. . . I dropped off the radar for a bit, but I have a Verizon signal here at Lee Vining on the east side of Tioga Pass. I'm in the Sierras now, near Mono lake and headed into Nevada. I spent last night in Yosemite Valley. Unbelievable! Definitely a crown jewel of the U.S.A. I was lucky enough to hang out with some of the locals (camp employees) some of who were fantastic musicians and had a great little jam session. Imagine wooden chairs on a wood slat porch (nice bass acoustics with the feet tapping) and lots of stars.

I was hoping to just crash out in the FJ again (like I did in downtown Eugene. . . LOL) but they don't allow you to sleep in your car, so I had to be a good boy and pay way too much for a canvas tent room. I'm not complaining though. . . what a spectacular place to spend a night. I did a little walk to bridalveil falls just before it was totally dark, and had the place all to myself.

Ok, time to roll! On to sin city and then the push home.

Jeeze, if all Scott needed was an FJ with an aux fuel tank to go from AZ to the Summit we could have volunteered! We've been on the waiting list for our tank forever now and we are doing a backcountry adventure through AZ and NM on our way! Oh well....

Have fun!

Thanks for the additional warm welcomes and comments. Yes, I'll definitely see you all at the FJ Summit. I'm looking forward to it!

Miss R2FJ, here's hoping you get that tank soon  You are going to love it. I went from Eugene, OR to Carson City, NV with a (likely close to 100 miles) side trip to Crater lake, the trip meter was reading 540 miles, and I still had a 1/4 tank of fuel left :bandit: So, well over 600 miles of range.

Ok, time for a few more pics from today. . .

Mono Lake, California

Driving towards the eastern edge of California. There are some roads out here that I must come back and explore.

And the historic silver mining town of Benton Hot Springs in Mono county, CA.

I'm in Las Vegas now. I plan to make it into AZ tonight. I may just sleep under the stars out in the desert if I get too tired to make the run home.

It's been fun!

Great pictures again Chris.
If you get up this way again, Mt. Rainier National Park is a must see.

I more than likely will be spending a week up at the White River campground for my vacation this year in the park.

Smack dab up near the mountain with deer all around, and you can watch the climbers go on the routes to summit the mountain.
