While preparing to install my OME lift today I was removing the front sway bar and one of the captive nuts broke loose. It turned a couple of threads under normal tension and theen began to spin freely. I knew instantly what had happened as I have never been a fan of captive nuts inside of boxed frames. Needless to say I was a bit miffed at Toyota but proceeded to cut the damn bolt and remove the nut from one of the tiny little access holes they were so thoughtful to give us. My question is, what are my options for securing the sway bar without the captive nut? I was thinking a lock nut may do the trick...

And I know I can leave the sway bar off but I'd rather not.

Without crawling under to look. Is there room to take an angle grinder and cut a slot on the side of the box frame just large enough to insert the nut back through and then be able to use the opening to put a box or open end wrench on the nut?
