:(So i've been studying the 2011 and all options for about 2 months, probably won't do the Trail Teams due to the $6400 jump and minimal negotiating room.
Here's the problem; I've looked at all options & packages and it looks like you cannot get an FJ with the cool TRD wheels & BF Goodrich tires, and ALSO get the floating ball instrument cluster on the dash. Even the toyota website makes it hard build it this way. The only way to get it is to select Off-Road package and TRD package together, but then the Bilstein shock types conflict with each other, which is why it looks like dealers don't combine these items...?
Can any dealer folks comment on this?

If you're right then yes that would be a problem since I definitely want 4WD. Strange again though that the BF Goodrich All-Terrains seem like they would be a great factory match for 4WD, plus the Toyota website will certainly let you select a 4WD vehicle with a TRD package...

You could be right since the "R" in TRD means "Racing", it could imply 2WD. I just get tired of calling dealerships and instead of answering the question, their response is always: "Let me get your name and number and we'll get right back to you on that...":flame:

I bet thats your issue, I think the TRD FJ has become the PreRunner Tacoma. 4wd stance, bilstein shocks, but missing a transfer case.

Thanks I guess that seems logical. I know one way you can get this combo is to buy the Trail Teams SE version... but of course that is a $6475.00 option, which is a bit rich for my pocketbook and also I'm not sure its worth the cost... (plus I sort of like the standard white roof)

As i said above, get a well pkgd FJ, off road pkg for instance. Bilsteins in the off road pkg are the same bilsteins as in TRD, only difference is.. one is bilstein off road tuned...another has TRD sticker on it and it`s "specially tuned valving" but amazingly they have same specs lol. You can purchase TRD exhaust, you can purchase TRD CAI, you can black it out...and overall spend a lot less money. You can even buy those TRD badges if you want. All is for sale, some things easy to get, some a little bit more complicated.. but you can still get them :bigthumb:

I agree with Dumpinthegutter, the TRD is 2wd. As far as what Surett said, maybe so, but I'll bet it's one he built.

I have a 2011. The options are really just messed up this year. TRD is not 2wd only. I have several build sheets from my dealer for 2011 4x4 trd packages. However the best package for me was the upgrade package which comes with everything, i mean everything accept the wheels, tires, and stickers. I figured i would add wheels tires and suspension and doubt I would ever spend the money on sterio, inverter, etc etc. So if you just get the upgrade package just plan to buy a 2nd set of wheels, tires, and suspension. You can get a set of wheels even stock alloys for under 500 plus tires and suspension 2000 ish so figure the upgrade package plus 2500. I got the upgrade package and then found a set of wheels and near new off road tires for 600. I was just as frustrated as you are not being able to get the interior options, mechanical options, and the wheels tires and suspension options I wanted on the same package. I guess that's why they make the TT Special eddition. It is in fact the TRD package, plus the Upgrade Package, plus the exterior paint and plastic package. By the way I'm getting 20 mpg with the street tires, and 15 with the swampers so it's kinda nice to be able to swap.

You live in Gulf States and LSU is in South East Toyota, Both of these are not the Normal Toyota Build profiles, which the rest of the country gets..

GST and SET are seperate from the rest of the USA, they are seperate companies from Toyota USA..

So your build profiles will be much different that what the rest can attain..

Here in the NW the center pod is on everything, Off road with BFG tires, or the UP grade pkg 2, and the TT Up Grade 3..

We don't even have an option for a 4x2 here...

The off road here comes with the Black rims and the street tires, we up grade them at the port to the TRD wheels and the BFG AT KO's.. 1600 upgrade but well worth it.. They already come with the bilstiens..

Talk to your local dealer and see if GST can do the same.. I would think they could..

Hope this helps..

I have the fully-loaded 2011 4WD with TRD wheels, Goodrich tires, plus the temp/compass/inclinometer. It's possible.

It's a combination of a few options packages, but it can be done. I haven't seen any others like mine around town so I guess it is rare?
