I had to redo my air filter cleaning video on YouTube because I keep getting fraudulent third party audio content claims. So I added some royalty free music and uploaded the video again. I searched on here for my original thread, but only found where I had posted the video as a response.

Anyway, if you have a K&N, aFe, Volat, or whatever kind of oiled air filter, you know that the cleaning kit you buy for the air filter doesn't work very well. I had heard about using Simple Green, but nobody really explained how they did it. After a bit of research, I found that soaking the filter in a solution works best. Here is the video.

I use simple green and hot water. It works like a charm with foam or K&N type filters.

My K/N just passed 200,000 and I can think of a few times I have used Simple Green to clean the filter. Great advice!

I'll have to try this. I've never been happy with the K&N cleaning kit for my filter on the Jeep; it's one reason I didn't bother putting one in the FJ.

How about using simple green on a dry, reusable AFE Pro Dry S filter?

Anyone think it will damage the filter media in any way?
