there a trap when you park side by side.
I've heard a few people mention this, but I don't understand what they mean and how this is so different than a conventional four-door. I'm a large... ok, fat guy and I park side by side in my FJ all the time. I've never had anymore difficulty with the FJ compared with any other four-door. With conventional doors, when you exit the front, and someone is getting out of the rear on the same side, aren't you still "trapped"? Don't you still have to shut one of the doors before you can get out from between vehicles? If anything, the shorter clamshell doors on the FJ make this less of a problem.

Maybe it's just perception? If anybody has specific instances where the FJs door configuration caused them a real hassle, I'd like to hear them. Perhaps I just haven't been in those same situations.

Between the doors when their open is actually a nice "space" IMO. Yesterday in fact, my wife, kids, and I had a picnic and we all kind of sat and huddled in that area. I was wondering how hard it would be to fashion a cover for sun or rain protection - nice place to sit in a lawn chair out of the wind while listening to the radio or tunes.
