One of the reasons I like the FJ is it's uniqueness. Leave the suiside doors, heck, lets have the doors drop to the ground like ramps.
On a car with conventional four door with both front and back doors open at the same time one person is behind the front door and one person is behind the rear door and yes the driver is stuck in that box if they're near another car. In the FJ both people are stuffed in a small triangle until the rear door can be closed. Just make sure you have tic-tacs handy.I've heard a few people mention this, but I don't understand what they mean and how this is so different than a conventional four-door. I'm a large... ok, fat guy and I park side by side in my FJ all the time. I've never had anymore difficulty with the FJ compared with any other four-door. With conventional doors, when you exit the front, and someone is getting out of the rear on the same side, aren't you still "trapped"? Don't you still have to shut one of the doors before you can get out from between vehicles? If anything, the shorter clamshell doors on the FJ make this less of a problem.
Maybe it's just perception? If anybody has specific instances where the FJs door configuration caused them a real hassle, I'd like to hear them. Perhaps I just haven't been in those same situations.
