Cool, we want some pics.

By the way, why don't you change the front 2''1/2. They look really cheap to me?
Yes, I plan on doing that, but I am going to wait until I pay off the credit card. BTW the factory speakers are paper. The bracket and speaker are all in one.

Mind telling us how much install cost? Or did you do it yourself?

I bet the system sounds great! Congrats.

I had it installed; These guys are awesome, Autosound in Plainville, MA. I let them choose the parts; they really know what is a good cost effective solution. My FJ was parked next to Deon Branche's escallade and on the other side was Joey Kramer's Lotus (looked similar to an Elise). But anyway they charged me about $1,000 in equipment (same cost as crutchfield) and $400 in labor.

Wow that isn't bad at all on labor for all that gear. I had a guy quote me $350 for the headunit and camera because he had never done an install in an FJ before.

"So let me get this straight. You want ME to pay YOU to experiment and use my car as a guinea pig. Ummm....yeah, I'll pass."

Anyone know if the stock stereo face plate is double DIN? I plan on installing a Pioneer AVIC Z-1 navigation system with a Sirius NAV-Traffic system which is blue tooth compatible and built in DVD player. I will add a rear camera (to aviod potential problems with the "C" pillars.) I currently am running Boston Acustics Z and Pro series speakers with Alpine amps and a Boston Sub. I would also like to pick up a second Stock sub inclosure (provided that I can retofit the existing one) I'm a serious audiophile and want to gut the standard 9 speaker system immediatly after receiving my FJ. It gets off the boat on 4/20. I'll post pictures once the guys complete the system. For those who are curious...it will be an 8 grand plus system. It will blow doors on all but the most serious of home theater systems. I do intend to run the ceiling and pillar speakers (replaced with Boston's, of course) off of the Pioneer deck. It will have 12 speakers in all. The four spekers in the doors are capable of spliting into separates. I'm ready to ROCK once my cruiser gets off of the boat!

Here are the Photos

I had to add a strap to keep the kicker from doing a face plant during sudden acceleration.

The 5 1/4 in the side look sick! Do they make a big difference for the driver or are they more for the passengers?

Well, got a little post happy....sorry. The Pioneer is also available as an XM system. I prefer Sirius because of the jam band station that is available. I haven't totally settled on Sirius. Can you convince me that XM is better? I'm open to suggestions.

Did the aftermarket install maintain the use of the factory steering wheel controls?

I didn't get the upgrade packages; I got only the additions I wanted. So I don't have the steering wheel controls, can't tell you. I know many companies sell adaptors to make the steering wheel controls work, so research the manufactuer of the head unit you are interested in.
