Ya getting close! But the time for the class from Ouray Mountain Rescue is going to be Friday 4PM. This will be for the class on first aid, what to do when someting bad happens on the trail.
Followed at 4:45 when the AirCare 1 helicopter is scheduled to arrive to give a talk on how to set up a LZ and work around helicopters.
The hopes are to educate on what to do if something goes bad out there, to get some $ for OMR thru sales of t-shirts and bricks, and to gain your support of your local EMS..
Thanks DoWork! Look forward to seeing ya, beer on me?
Sorry to say, but that likely won't happen.
A couple of things there... risk and cost. Risk, take-off and landings are the riskiest parts of a flight. The aircraft will be at its limits in Ouray on a sunny summer day. Cost, $1000 an hour, plus 75 gallons per hour, at double what car fuel costs. Plus $40+ per start per engine. Also Ouray is a very noise sensitive place. To give a ride might just cost what we want to achive, that being support for air medical programs.
This will be a fairly basic class, no way to learn everything in a few minutes. The goal is to get us thinking and maybe taking a more formal class later.
Our helicopter is down for the next week. We are converting all interior lighting to NVG (night vision goggle) compatable stuff. This is to boost safety at night. We have a spare aircraft that came in from Casper WY.
