1,200 miles from Virginia to Kentucky and back, mostly over mountains at about 85mph. The FJ performed beautifully! Very comfortable for a long trip also, it's about 8 hours each way. Got many compliments too, and even saw another Sandstorm in Lexington KY! That brings the total to Two that I have seen on the road.

Anyway, that's it. I sure love this thing, and now at almost 7,000 miles, I can't think of much, if anything, I would change about it.

Will be joining you soon, (making a long road trip). We head out to Webb City MO from Columbus Ohio Friday. 11 hour trip one way. Recently made a six hour (round trip) to visit my son. I was pleased that we managed 19.5 miles a gallon on the highway. I checked it a year ago when the vehicle was newer and we only got 17.

Our FJ how has 19,000 miles (went into service Dec 9th 2006).

I have towed a trailer from the Bay area to San Diego twice to warm up for my first road trip/ vacation. A bro flew into Oakland from Seattle and we loaded our mountain bikes on the back and rolled to Moab, Utah. We definately took some time while there and tested the 4-wheeling prowess. We took the Northern rought thru Salt Lake there and took the Southern rought on the way back thru Vegas. In between Vegas and Bakersfield I saw my first Sandstorm!
The total milage was 3,600 miles for the trip and when I dropped my bro at the airport I washed "9-Ball" and picked up Lisa. Tossed her bike on the back and drove to Forest City (N/W of Tahoe) and rode some more killer trails.
Then I filled out a "exspense report" and wrote it off on my taxes : )

My life sucks!!

NOT : )

Cool beans. I'll be taking a road trip here in a couple months. I'm finally leaving Alaska. Taking the Alcan down to L.A., spending a few days with family and friends, and then heading out to North Carolina. Anybody got any tips, or points of interest? I'll have a co-pilot on the way to California, since my roommate is getting stationed in Barstow, I'm dropping him off there. Then I'm going solo coast-to-coast.

oh, how I love road trips!:rocker: Our last one was from Wilmington, DE to Port Angeles, WA... a very long 5 days, cross-country with two howling cats in my little car the whole way :mecry:

In 2 weeks, we'll be making a 2400 mile road trip up to Alaska, where we'll be for the next 3 yrs...
I'll have the 2 cats with me in the FJ :mecry: and hubby will have the 2 dogs in his Silverado...
hopefully, I won't have to teach the cats how to swim while on the ferry from Valdez to Cordova :D

Is Cordova your final destination in Alaska?

I don't know if you can consider it a road trip, but I've driven back and forth from Houston to New Orleans 5 times. I gotta head back and the end of May and tow a trailer back, so I'll let yall know how it does.

I make that trip from the Richmond, VA area to Lexington, KY every now and then. I have some family out there and we see them about twice a year. I just got my FJ, so I haven't taken it out there yet, and with having a Yaris that gets 42 mpg, I probably won't be taking the FJ out there anytime soon.
