looking for some advice here guys, I bought the FJ in Dec of 07 so that makes it now 6 months old, it just turned 1500 miles on the odometer this weekend! dont get a lot of miles on an Island in the middle of the ocean! the question is//
it is time for that first 6 month service even though the mileage is low it has been 6 months, what fluids are reccomended for this first change? shall i go with something like Royal purple and what all fluids besides the oil shall i be concerned about changing? it has only been off road 3 times and hasnt seen any serious mud yet. what kind of oil synthetic? what brand?

I would wait a bit longer to switch to synthetic, I think I switched over at 5k and the stealership reccomended not to switch until 10k. Many here have switched quite early. For now just change your oil and if you feel compelled the rear differential.
Well, I thought about changing the oil early (i.e. pre 5K), but thought better of it and just replaced the filter at 2500. I did wash it around 1500 and again at 2500<<<8) I'll change the oil and rear diff at 5K.. Ron

For a new FJ you won't really need the Royal Purple treatment, for now just do the regular oil changes and maintenance. Later when you rack a few more miles then you can switch over to a synthetic oil. I suggest the Mobile 1 synthetic, it served me well so far.:D
