Hey everyone! I decided it would be cool to have a thread where I can post up pictures and details of all the major FJ trips/trail-runs I've been on. :bigthumb: I got my 1st FJ Cruiser TRD SE in April of 2011 but it wasn't until about a year later that I REALLY went on my first off-roading trip and that's where the pictures begin! Loved it ever since! Now I'm on FJ #2 , the white Trail Teams Special Edition and it is been awesome too!

These first photos are of a trip to a place called "The Twist" on the San Juan trail in southern Utah (near Bluff, UT). I went there on a scout trip and it was pretty fun! Nice easy trail and of course there are some pics of where me and my neighbor Jason (in the yellow FJ) played on the rocks.

Loaded the FJ on the trailer!

So we unloaded the FJ at the trail head and I drove it from there! Here's a pose pic!

Artistic picture

Flex!

Here are some pictures from that afternoon where I decided I wanted to pull up on that rock. It was the first time I went on 3 wheels ever! (Wouldn't be the last though!)

Setup Camp.

Here are some pictures in the section known as "The Twist" and I let a buddy of mine drive this section, it was his first time off-road!

And then we played on the rocks!

More rock pics!!

My next trip was a little while later and again, I went with my neighbor who owns that yellow FJ (but isn't on the forums). So this trail is known at the Willow Divide Trail and it is northeast of Dolores, Colorado. It was a beautiful, fun, easy drive.

Bear Tracks!!

At this point we found a little bit of unmelted snow!! So by nature we just had to play in it!! (We were so inexperienced with the A-TRAC and Rear Diff at this time... oh those were the days...)

My next trip was actually a few months later but on the same Willow Divide trail!! Only this time it was right after some MAJOR wind storms so there were a lot of downed trees. At least we could either go around, or pull them with straps. At one point even we were able to drive under a downed tree and I BARELY had enough roof clearance. And of course my friend was driving his very old Pathfinder.

I got a little dirty! And some scratches...

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

My next big trip was the FJ Summit No.6!!! Woohoo!!! It was so great and I highly recommend any FJer who loves off-roading to add this to your bucket list! But here are my pictures... and obviously there are some big differences to the FJ since the last trip (look at my build thread for details!!)

So here is at the beginning of the Black Bear Pass trail above Ouray.

Reaching the summit of Black Bear Pass!

Looking down into Telluride!!

At this point we stopped to change someone in our group's flat tire. (And that is the Ray from PureFJCruiser behind me!)

Off again!

Meeting with the spotter before taking on "The Steps" at "Pucker Point"

That is Lmmmmm from the forum that you see in that picture!

Another FJ on The Steps

I decided at this point that I was too intimidated with my limited extreme off-road experience so I let my more experienced father take on "the steps" while I took these pictures.

One of my favorite pictures!

And here is a video where you can see my FJ driving down "The Steps" as you see in the pictures.

After "the steps" I took back the wheel and continued on down into Telluride. Pretty sweet drop and switchbacks.

After we finished Black Bear, the group split up for lunch and then gathered up again later and proceed to travel over Ophir Pass.

As we drove back towards Ouray, a torrential downpour began, it was crazy how many mud slides there were and how much water was on the "Million Dollar Highway".

At the Summit it was so cool to see and meet the popular vendors, Famous Forum members, and iconic FJs!

DeftSpyder - the creator of the carbon fiber hood.

The FJ-S Concept - the same one later debuted at SEMA in Las Vegas - complete with supercharger.

WILSON from TRDParts4U

Ironman 4x4

All-Pro Off road

Metal Tech's FJ! LEGENDARY!!

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

Later that same day on Sunday after the group photo, my family and I went on the Clear Lake trail. I was a nice, and as always, beautiful drive.

Here's a pic right next to an old mine!

About a month after the Summit, I was invited on the ih8mud.com forum to join the Book Cliff Cruisers out of Grand Junction, CO on a trail ride up in the same area as the Summit (right above Silverton) so I accepted and here are those photos!

First we went on the Eureka Gulch trail first, it was a n easy little starter trail but it was cool because of all the abandoned mines!

The only other FJ Cruiser was a TT!

After that trail, we headed for the Picayune & Placer Gulches, we got to a max altitude of over 12,750 ft. !!! We were sucking air up there!!

After that we headed for California Gulch. Once we got to the bottom basically, I decided that the only way I would get back in time for work that evening is if I left right then so after some group photos I took off by myself!

This is looking down at Lake Como where you can see on the one side, the top of Poughkeepsie Gulch. At this point my dad and I headed to Corkscrew Gulch.

Awesome thread. Thanks for sharing. I have up say though, I'm jealous of how many other FJ's you've wheeled with and the scenery of some of those places. I look forward to seeing many more of your adventures.

Book Cliff Cruiser trip continued....

Some Hummer H1s coming off of Poughkeepsie

Old mine on Corkscrew

After getting off Corkscrew, my dad and I headed to Ouray for lunch, and then headed to Imogene Pass so we could drop down into Telluride and then drive back home to Cortez.

Here is a picture of the famous narrow spot under neath this rock overhang.

It got a little steep on an Imogene obstacle headed towards Telluride.

Looking down at the trail we just came up facing Ouray (north)

Finally made it to the summit of Imogene!

There were marmots everywhere up there it seemed like!

Headed down to Telluride...

This was basically my last big trip before heading off to school at Utah Valley University near Provo, UT. But once at school, I decided that I needed to go find somewhere to go off-roading along with my roommate who also enjoys off-roading, but doesn't own a 4x4 vehicle. So we ended up going to 5 Mile Pass to check out the Rattlesnake Trail.

We ended up turning around and going back after we got to a little bit of a tough spot (but later we would conquer it!)

Here are some videos taken from the trip above.

After this, I didn't go on any big trips really but I did find a little place to mess around at near where I am going to school.

More pics from what is above....

Here's a video compilation from the place you see in the pictures above and other places in Utah as well.

Also, at one point, I took a little evening trip to a little off-roading area called Little Moab. It was fun! But it got dark quick, I want to go again so I can play on the rocks more!

I even off-roaded into the night!

And here's a little video from that day at Little Moab.

Soon enough though, I got to go off-roading with a group of guys and we ended up going to Rattlesnake again!!! It was super slippery and muddy but fun all the same!

A photo someone else took of my rig.

In this pic, some of the Jeeps are pulled up to or on a sealed off mine shaft.

And here is a 10 minute video showing a bunch of footage from that trip.

Then, my next big trip was another trip to the Rattlesnake trail and 5 Mile Pass area with a few of the same guys as before.

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

Continued from the Snow Wheeling trip to Rattlesnake

Right here is a picture of a very slick hill that everyone was trying, without lockers, this hill was basically impossible without winching.

However at the end of this trip, I ended up getting in a tight situation where my rear passenger side tire slid off the side of the road and didn't want to get back on the road, so i ended up getting winched by one of the Jeeps.

Then, in February of 2013, I made yet ANOTHER trip out to 5 Mile Pass to hit up Rattlesnake again. And I had a lot more fun on this trip than I did the last!!!

Nice and clean... for now!

We had quite a large group of people that day!

That's a buddy of mine airing down my tires for me

The other FJ is Jordan (Jord710), he is a buddy of mine and is also part of my off-road club at UVU! You'll also see an older 4Runner that is red and white who is also in the club as well as a silver 4Runner.

Messing around on the first major obstacle.

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

Here are pictures continued from the first page! In these, I am still on the Rattlesnake trail, and by the time we got back to the freeway, because of the sun being out all day and making all the snow melt a lot, it was MUDDY!

4Runner trying to take on the rocks designated only for the "big boys" (he never made it)

This guy decided he wanted to try his luck on the rocks...

Not so lucky...

It was a scary situation for sure!

But we got him off! Not without bending his rear bumper though!

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

Continued...

So after a while of watching people play around on Wayne's World (a very popular obstacle really only for the summer and for very modded vehicles) I decided to try "the hill" which is very steep, very muddy, and takes lots of power to get up!

I made it up on my third try!

Jordan got it on his 2nd!

And then because of the sun being out all day and making snow melt and making the ground super soft, it was a VERY MUDDY drive back to the highway! Those Bushwackers sure did help though!

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

Well, I did Rattlesnake for the 2nd weekend in a row!!! Only this this weekend, I got to go with 2 other FJs!! It was a nice change of pace for me this time because; one, I was the leader on the trail because of how many times I've done it and because I know all the lines, two, there were only 3 of us as opposed to 12 which was a lot more manageable, and three, we were all in FJ Cruisers!!! :rocker: I had a blast and in the pictures you'll see forum members @boston801 (silver FJ) and @Codeman006 (white FJ) as well as me of course (black FJ). So here are the pictures!

Meeting at the Saratoga Springs Wal-Mart

Airing down

This is coming up the trail, this spot was a little tough for Boston, and he did scrape here and actually got hung up on the rock, so we ended up pushing I'm back from the front bumper and then he approached it again a little differently and it was cake!

Codeman coming through a little narrow spot, it's intimidating because of the rocks on the one side.

This is a fun spot!

At this part, you get a little tippy but it makes for sweet pics!

Group photo!

After hitting up Wayne's world and driving up some of the fun steep hiils, we turned around and headed back down Rattlesnake!

And finally, some group flexing photos!!

It was a super cool day and I can't wait to do it again with the other FJs here in Utah!

Also, here is a video I made of our adventure!

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

Well this weekend on April 4-6, 2013, I went down to Moab with my Off-Road club at UVU (I'm was the president and founder of the club) and we had a blast!!!

We got down there Thursday night and the first thing I did after unpacking my stuff in out room at the Red Stone Inn was remove my front sway bar completely! And this was probably the smartest and most awesome mod I've ever done with my FJ!! In the pictures, you'll see how sometimes between the top of the tire and the bottom of the Bushwacker Fender Flare, there is only a minimum of 2 or so inches and the max it got to was 12 inches, so WAY more than how it was with the sway bar on!!!

And I actually talked to another FJ guy who said that he had snapped his sway bar the year before on one of the trails we went on so I'm very happy that it's removed now! And it ran not bad on the highway, I could only feel extra body roll when slowly cornering in town.

The first trail we ran the next day, Friday, was Hell's Revenge and all I can saw is WOW!!! I've never been more impressed with my FJ then any other time in my life!! It did everything so effortlessly and never once did I ever scrape my front bumper or rear bumper!! It was so cool and the trail was probably one of my favorites there!

So here we are paying at the entrance on this area and then getting ready for the trail. As you can see we had some 4Runners, Jeeps, my FJ of course! And they all did awesomely! And for the record, I aired down to 20 psi the whole time I was there.

And so it begins!!

Got to see this go up Hell's Gate!! And no I didn't do Hell's Gate! Not yet at least....

This guy from our group almost flipped his though!!

Got to do this hot tub that the picture was taken from!

Here are some action shots my room mate took on Hell's Revenge

We then stopped for lunch right after coming down this hill

The trail was pretty fun at this point and soon we found the escalator and wipe out hill! I didn't do either though...

Parked here and watched people bust their steering on the Escalator

The view down to Moab

re: FJX2000's Wheeling Trips & Adventures Thread

Then we got to the final section of the trail where it turns from nice smooth slickrock to a very jagged and rocky section which isn't too bad but make sure you take the right line or you do this!!! I thought I was done for!

But after I got down from that very scary/tippy situation, the rest of the trail was pretty straight forward!

After getting off of Hell's Revenge and watching some people play around on Potato Salad, the club group split up and while some of the more built rigs decided to go on the Moab Rim, I decided to do Fins N Things! This was my first time wheeling in Moab and I felt this was one of the trail I just had to do! Also, I met up with another FJ dude in our group and we had a great time!

What I learned by this point was just to trust the FJ and know that it could handle whatever you threw at it!

Soon it started getting dark but it made for great pictures!!! I don't really enjoy night wheeling very much though
