Hi there, this is my first post on the FJ Cruiser Forums. I did a ton of research awhile back on the topic of towing the FJ and this forum had the best info on the internet. I wanted to thank SwiCago, the OP on this thread, and everyone who chipped in with both technical and practical knowledge.

I finally got the funds and the courage to make it happen, myself. Couldn't be happier! I will update with pics and vids from my mobile phone. I hope anyone else who had or has doubts about towing a manual transmission FJ cruiser without wrecking the transmission and moving parts gets over the fear hump and on with the adventure.

This evening, towing the FJ to AZ and CA for some fun. Loving the stealth bomber gray look of the plasti-dip spray paint with the colors of my FJ.

Can you update your thread with your setup details, in case you went with different options than I did...the more options people have the better.

Yes, and updates? I'm currently researching this myself.

1. Tow bar: I'm looking at using this one $653.12
2. Tow bar accessories/kit like these ones $287.27
3. Wiring for lights, is this what I need? $9.98
4. A way to active the breaks, using something like this. $977.99
5. A way to attach the tow bar to the bumper using an adapter like this. $97.38
6. An Expedition One Front Bumper. $1,464.99


Is there a less expensive way of doing this?
