OK. Collecting a bunch of stuff is one thing. How to use it and improvise what you don't have is another. Time to list some resources for free training:

ARRL for HAM Radio training. Not quite free but well worth the time and money. American Radio Relay League | ARRL - The national association for AMATEUR RADIO If you want to get more advanced training in Emergency Communication, join one of these groups: ARES RACES FAQ

CERT for local community emergency preparedness. Many cities and towns offer free CERT training to its residents. Community Emergency Response Teams | FEMA.gov If you cant help your neighbors, what is the point? Extensive training for certification and you really get to know your local first responders.

FEMA has an online training program. Emergency Management Institute - FEMA Independent Study Program It is free and your passing the tests go a long way toward your emergency "street creds". Some organizations like ARES/RACES require this training and CERT is adding this as a requirement as well.

Red Cross The masters of disaster. Take a Class | American Red Cross | CPR, First Aid, Swimming They have been doing emergency prep since the beginning. They also have several volunteer levels you can train for as well as First Aid.

Did I miss anyone? :thinkerg:

Love it... All about the skills and less about the stuff.

Considering the places we take our 'yotas here's a great resource from north of the 49th.
