I have a magnetic mount antenna currently on my roof but it does not do well with limbs. Can I mount one to my ARB bumper? Would it work or am I going to have problems with it getting the best performance? If it will work can you recommend one to buy (dual band) and coax? Thanks, guys!!

Thinking about this antenna and coax.

I have this radio.

I think this is the correct coax with correct connectors???

You are smart to target a half=wave antenna for the bullbar location due to the iffy ground plane. But I can't recommend that antenna. I had that very antenna on the bullbar of my previous rig, and I watched it fall apart on a trail in the Rockies. It has some kind of glue joint that just came apart. Another guy in our club had one break too.

Since then I have gone to a Larsen whip antenna MHW-150C. The design is dead simple and therefore reliable. Although the whip is taller than the Comet, it is highly flexible and resilient, and also the whip can be replaced cheaply if it breaks. This antenna is a PL239 mount, if you want NMO mount get a Larsen NMOWB150B.

The coax looks fine, but for coax I used a COMET 3D4MC, it is more expensive than what you are looking at but the removable connector makes it easier to snake through the firewall etc.

Thanks for the help, that coax was the stuff. Super easy to get through the firewall during the install. Cut a slit in the passenger side boot in the firewall and ran it right in. Thanks!!
