Hi guys!

New member and new FJ owner, and long time ham. I was first licensed in 1986 at the age of 13. I was inactive for most of my late teen years, and even let my ticket expire and go beyond the two year grace period. I think it was in 1999 that I decided I needed to get back into the hobby.

Other hobbies include aviation, high performance V-twin motorcycles, firearms, and general tinkering on all things mechanical.

My next post will be in the thread requesting pics of radio installations, including pics. The rig is an Icom IC-7000 paired with a home brew screwdriver antenna that I built several years ago. The installation on the FJ required some new custom mounting brackets, and a few other minor parts and prices.

Trying to decide which mobile rig and antenna to purchase for the FJ.

Picked up an icon 2200H, now just need to decide on an antenna.

Current base is a Kenwood TS440SAT.

I plan to install an older Yaesu 7800 in my new FJ and operate 2m and 70cm.
You can track my maritime mobile station at Google Maps APRS. Not likely much activity until salmon season opens in April.

I erected a 10 meter dipole antenna in my back yard. This along with a mast will be portable so I can set it up when camping. My FJ has a Yaesu FT-8900 installed in it. Then today my father gave me his Icom IC-746. I'm planning on being up late tonight scanning for beacons.
